Batley Boys vs Hensingham
The Boys travelled to West Cumbria in great spirits despite not playing last weekend, the game was delayed to a 3pm kick off due to the weather and venue change.
Batley started off well playing into the gale, coach Terry Bairstow gave debuts to Liam Ward, Josh Clough and Sam Pickles, The boys forwards dominated from minute one as Gav Davis, Charlie Sandell, Aaron James, Josh Richter and Matthew Sheridan set a platform for Josh Knowles, Luke Sheridan and Ryan Crossley to control the game in awful conditions, the Boys missed out on another chance as hooker Josh Knowles was held up by 5 defenders.
The bench was introduced as Jordan Brown, Josh Clough and Sam Pickles added more grit and determination
Hensingham opened the scoring in the first half following a series of penalties and errors allowed them in the game but Batley hit back straight away from the kick off as centre Tom Ripley picked a loose ball up to dive over in the corner, Liam Ward missed the extras in tough windy weather.

Batley now had the wind behind theirs backs as they started off stronger as Adam Bingham controlled the game with the boot forcing the big Cumbrian pack back as Boys forced an error as Aaron James came steaming on to the ball to put the boys into the lead they’d not lose as Adam Bingham couldn’t add the extras, The game saw a controversy as Ryan Crossley was sent from the field for apparently using a the elbow as he ran the ball in and left four defenders on the floor and the touch judge came on following the game stopping due to a injury to the Hensingham player, Batley effort wasn’t wasted in attack nor defence as kept Hensingham out in back to back sets before Adam Bingham sealed the points with a try in the final 11 minutes, Batley held out as James Sheldon, Josh Scrutton, Mike Mould and Tom Ripley all made match winning efforts in defence before Batley who were on a team warning had Josh Richter sin binned for a offensive around the ruck before Matt and Luke Sheridan and Adam Bingham kept Hensingham a bay following great goal line defence before Batley got the ball and sealed the game.
